WorkSafe launches investigation after fatal drilling incident

WorkSafe is probing a fatal incident that occurred during earthworks in Kilmore on Friday.

The safety watchdog said directional drilling was in progress on the site when a 53-year-old man encountered an auger within the excavation.

This incident represents the 27th confirmed workplace fatality recorded in 2025, according to WorkSafe statistics.
