WorkSafe issues reminder about engineered stone prohibition

OHS Daily News

WorkSafe reminds the industry that the processing of engineered stone is no longer permitted, after a business was discovered to be unlawfully processing the material.

WorkSafe said inspectors recently conducted a visit to a carpentry workshop where employees were engaged in the construction of an entertainment unit featuring an engineered stone surface.

The stone was processed the previous day, and the factory was engaged in the final stages of cabinet fabrication.

The business received a prohibition notice that necessitated the disposal of the stone slab, along with the requirement to provide evidence of such disposal to WorkSafe.
