Workplace death toll keeps rising

According to latest Safe Work Australia figures, a total of 126 Australian workers have died on the job so far this year.

The Transport, postal and warehousing industry tops the list with 40 fatalities followed by Agriculture forestry and fishing with 30 fatalities. The Construction industry comes third with 22 work-related deaths.

The data shows the mining sector has to date lost 9 employees. In 2023, 200 workers in Australia suffered fatal injuries on the job.
