Worker suffers burns in Sydney blast

Emergency services were called to a council depot in Sydney’s southwest after a worker suffered serious burn injuries in an explosion on Wednesday morning.

The man in his 40s was treated at the scene before being flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Firefighters said the explosion was sparked by an angle grinder.

Investigations to determine the cause of the incident are ongoing.
