Transport, postal and warehousing is the deadliest industry in Australia, with latest Safe Work Australia figures showing the industry has so far recorded the highest number of workplace deaths this year. The industry has lost 42 workers.

The Construction industry comes second, with 28 fatal work injuries, two more than at the same time last year.

The figures show 22 workers in the Agriculture forestry and fishing industry have been killed at work since the beginning of this year.

A total of 144 Australian workers have suffered fatal injuries at work this year.
