Worker crushed to death at Melbourne warehouse

A forklift operator was fatally crushed by bags of animal feed at a Melbourne warehouse on Thursday afternoon.

WorkSafe said the man, 63, was trying to fix a torn bag of animal feed when three one-tonne bags fell on top of him, crushing him at approximately 2:30pm.

The safety watchdog confirmed it was conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

A total of 15 Victorian workers have been killed at work this year, compared to the 27 workplace deaths reported by this time in 2023.
