Western Australia’s agricultural worker fatalities revealed

The latest WorkSafe WA’s Agriculture Industry Fatality Report reveals there were 18 occupational deaths in the Western Australian agriculture industry from 2019 to June 2023.

WorkSafe said the report ‘provides a valuable insight into the types and causes of work-related traumatic injury fatalities within the industry.’

The report shows tractors and quad bikes are the leading cause of deaths, with 9 fatalities. Other fatalities occurred as a result of being hit by a moving object, being trapped by machinery, falling from height and insect bites.

The majority of agricultural sector deaths were male. The industry lost 17 male workers and 1 female worker.
