WA lithium plant under probe over workplace safety complaints

WorkSafe WA is investigating a lithium plant following complaints about unsafe working conditions.

WA’s workplace health and safety regulator launched investigations in April after workers were reportedly exposed to toxic gases at the facility south of Perth.

A number of workers were taken to hospital following the incident.

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) confirmed they had opened an investigation into the incident due to complaints, adding that they have been conducting routine inspections since September 2020.
