WA Department of Health issues extreme heat warning

The WA Department of Health has issued a heat weather warning, with temperatures expected to soar past 40 degrees in the Perth metropolitan area.

The health department reminds Western Australians to be careful in the sun to help prevent heat-related illness.

According to the health department, heatwaves have caused more deaths in Australia in the past 200 years than any other natural hazard.

People who work in hot environments, the elderly and people with underlying health conditions, face risks of heat stress.

Western Australians who experience symptoms of heat illness are encouraged to seek urgent medical advice.
