Vic power company plans guilty plea after fatal workplace incident

The operator of a Victorian power station will plead guilty to three charges of breaching the OHS Act following the death of one of its workers.

The 54-year-old man suffered severe burns while working at a power station in Latrobe Valley in November 2018. He died in hospital the following day. The man had worked at the power station for 30 years.

WorkSafe Victoria filed charges against the company in December 2021. The safety regulator alleged that the company failed to provide a safe workplace, training and safe systems of work. The company recently announced it would plead guilty to the three charges.
