VIC metal fabrication subcontractor charged after worker fractures back in fall
A Victorian metal fabrication subcontractor has been charged with three breaches of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after a worker sustained serious injuries when he fell from height at a Melbourne airport.
The man was working at the airport when he fell through a ceiling panel to the floor about four metres below. He was taken to hospital with severe spinal injuries following the incident in December 2021.
WorkSafe accuses the company for failing to provide and maintain a safe workplace, contrary to section 21(1) of the OHS Act.
The parties will appear in court today for a filing hearing.
