Vic concrete manufacturer fined for near miss workplace incident

A Victorian concrete manufacturer has been fined $35,000 over a workplace incident where concrete fell from a crane, narrowly missing two workers.

WorkSafe Victoria said two workers were removing a five-metre rectangular concrete trough from a mould when the load fell in April 2020.

The company pleaded guilty in the Shepparton Magistrates' Court to failing to provide a safe system of work and adequate training to workers.

The court also ordered the company to pay costs of $3,716.
