Transport, postal, and warehousing industries topped list of workplace fatalities in 2025

According to preliminary statistics from Safe Work Australia, a total of 178 workers were killed on the job in 2025.
The transport, postal, and warehousing industry experienced 65 fatalities, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing had 25, and the construction industry reported 19 deaths.
Public administration and safety saw 9 fatalities; other services had 7, and mining recorded 6 work-related deaths.
Additionally, Safe Work Australia indicated that 24 fatalities occurred in industries that are not specified.
