Transport organisations urge caution when sharing roads with agricultural vehicles

This Farm Safety Week, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association (LBRCA) have joined forces to call on road users to exercise caution when approaching farm vehicles and machinery.

NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway said the State Government is committed to reducing road injuries and fatalities on country roads.

“Country people make up around a third of NSW’s population but over the past five years deaths on country roads made up 67 percent of our road toll,” Mr Farraway said.

“This National Farm Safety Week, I encourage everyone to practice patience when you encounter a slow-moving agricultural vehicle by reducing your speed, looking out for approaching traffic and only overtaking when you have a clear stretch of road.”

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto urged road users to be on the lookout for the signs that can help keep everyone safe on the road.
