Territorians urged to prioritise safety when using fireworks on Territory Day

NT WorkSafe urges people celebrating with fireworks on Territory Day to prioritise safety.

Territory Day is celebrated on 1st July each year, and many residents and visitors celebrate the day with a fireworks display.

The safety watchdog has advised residents to only purchase fireworks from licenced retailers.

It further warns residents against storing unused fireworks, saying they can deteriorate with age and become unsafe.

NT WorkSafe said ‘’Take extra fire safety precautions before attempting to let off fireworks, and ensure that ignition sites are cleared of any flammable materials such as dry grass or mulch.’’

People will be allowed to buy fireworks on Friday 1 July from 9am to 9pm.
