Tasmanian drivers reminded to slow down around road work sites

Tasmania police have issued a reminder to drivers to slow down when approaching work sites after a man was caught driving at 104km/h in a 60km/h road works zone.

Tasmania Police Inspector Jim Semmens said 67 people were caught speeding in that section of road in two days.

“We’ve had officers there in a bid to reduce dangerous driving behaviour and keep our roads safer, but frustratingly we are still seeing people do the wrong thing,” Inspector Semmens said.

“We don’t enjoy handing out penalties, and if people made the right choices on our roads, we wouldn’t have to,” he said.
