Tasmania honours road workers killed on the job

OHS Daily News

The Tasmanian Government has expressed its steadfast commitment to safeguarding the safety and health of road workers across the state.

Transport Minister Eric Abetz said Tasmania honours the memory of individuals who have sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of enhancing and sustaining its road infrastructure.

“As we mark Road Worker Day of Remembrance, we reflect on and pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while working on Australian roads,” Minister Abetz said.

“It is also a time to reflect on the critical need to pay attention to safety when travelling through roadworks and to follow the rules in place so no more people lose their lives while just doing their jobs.

“I encourage everyone to reflect on the importance of this day, raise awareness within your networks and remain committed to ensuring road workers return home safely at the end of each and every day."
