SWA releases key WHS statistics report

Safe Work Australia has released the 2021 national data on workplace fatality figures and workers' compensation claims.

The Key Work Health and Safety Statistics, Australia 2022 report provides national data for all work-related fatalities in 2021 and workers' compensation claims in 2020/21.

The report shows there were 169 fatal occupational injuries in Australia in 2021, with males accounting for 96% of all work-related fatalities during this period.

The fatal injury rate for workers in the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry was the highest at 10.4 deaths per 100,000 workers.

On workers' compensation claims, the report reveals that 130,195 employees filed workers' compensation claims in 2021.
