SafeWork NSW is highlighting the significance of maintaining safety protocols around mobile plant and vehicles after two severe incidents took place within a span of five hours on Thursday.

A man in his fifties lost his life after being hit by a truck at a recycling facility in Greenacre at 7.30pm.

New South Wales Police responded to the incident, and inspectors from SafeWork NSW are investigating the incident.

A worker in his 40s was critically injured at 3:50pm and is now receiving treatment in the hospital after being caught between two cars at a vehicle repair workshop in Auburn.

SafeWork NSW has intervened and issued a Prohibition Notice to the business to ensure that safe work practices are implemented for vehicle repairs.

Trent Curtin, Head of SafeWork NSW said, “These two serious incidents within such a short space of time are tragic and my sympathies go out to their families, friends and colleagues.”
