SafeWork South Australia urges farm workers to put safety first when working with portable field bins

SafeWork SA has issued a reminder to farmers about the dangers of portable field bins after a worker was seriously injured in the State's mid-north last month.

The worker was hit by a bin's spring-loaded handle while changing a tyre.

He was flown to Adelaide with critical injuries.

SafeWork SA has commenced an investigation into the incident.

SafeWork SA reminds workplaces to ensure portable field bins are maintained according to the manufacturer's recommendations and all operators are trained on safety procedures.

Additional information is available on the SafeWork SA website.
