SafeWork SA using mock trials to enlighten the public about workplace health and safety prosecutions
SafeWork SA will hold a mock trial in Adelaide to educate the public about workplace health and safety laws.
SafeWork SA Executive Director Martyn Campbell said the mock trial provides a great insight into how workplace health and safety offences are prosecuted.
'Simulating a prosecution experience is an excellent way to communicate the seriousness of the legal obligations of duty holders under the WHS Act," he said.
The safety watchdog said its Advisory Service has taken part in several mock trials to educate local government employees about their legal duties under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA).
The most recent mock trial was held last month and about 100 people attended the event.
