SafeWork SA issues safety warning after worker injures hand in conveyor belt

SafeWork SA reminds workplaces to ensure machines are properly guarded after a worker’s hand got stuck in a moving conveyor early last month.

The worker had to be freed from the machine following the incident.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

SafeWork SA Acting Executive Director Glenn Farrell said properly fitted guards help to protect workers from injuries.

‘Moving parts in plants can present significant risks in the workplace and machine guarding is an effective and reasonably practicable measure to control those risks,’ he said.
