SafeWork SA is commencing a range of compliance initiatives focused on various industries due to a surge in workplace deaths this year.

To date, there have been 22 deaths attributed to workplace incidents in the current financial year.

The new campaigns focus on the priority sectors of Agriculture, Construction, Manufacturing, Transport, Forestry, and Healthcare.

The campaigns directed at key industries will involve on-site visits and compliance assessments to uncover and discourage unsafe workplace practices.

The WHS National Strategic Plan for the years 2023 to 2033 has recognised Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Construction; Transport, Postal and Warehousing; Manufacturing; and Healthcare and Social Assistance as key national priority sectors.
