SafeWork SA campaign aims to address unsafe practices in construction work
Starting from 1 July this year, SafeWork SA will focus on construction companies with a record of injury claims in an effort to enhance workplace safety
The extensive campaign will aim at medium and large construction enterprises, labour hire firms, and Group Training Organisations (GTOs).
The construction industry in Australia ranks as the second largest, encompassing three significant sectors: Building Construction, Construction Services, and Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction.
The joint effort alongside ReturnToWorkSA will concentrate on 20 organisations that report elevated injury claims, including private companies, Group Training Organisations (GTOs), and labour hire agencies.
SafeWork inspectors assess worksites and carry out desktop audits to review injury data and verify adherence to WHS laws.
Data from Safe Work Australia indicates that in 2023, the construction industry experienced the second highest fatality rate, surpassed only by the transport, postal, and warehousing sectors.
