SafeWork prosecutes cotton company following death of farm worker
An agricultural company is currently facing legal action following a fatal work-related incident in western NSW, and is also the subject of an investigation regarding the unrelated death of another employee.
SafeWork NSW has launched a prosecution in response to the fatal incident involving a 28-year-old man in December 2022.
The man sustained fatal injuries when the backhoe he was driving slipped over two meters into a culvert and toppled onto its side.
SafeWork said the worker was thrown from the machine and became trapped beneath the cabin.
The workplace safety regulator has filed a total of nineteen charges against three individuals and their affiliated farming partnership companies for purportedly neglecting to fulfil their work health and safety responsibilities.
