SafeWork NSW inspectors are inspecting commercial construction sites in the Hunter and Central Coast areas this week, as part of a sustained effort to maintain worker safety.

During onsite visits, inspectors will actively interact with both workers and employers regarding psychological health, safety, and potential hazards. These hazards may encompass harassment, bullying, work-related pressure, violence, and unsafe physical working conditions.

Commenting on the safety initiative, Trent Curtin, the head of SafeWork NSW, remarked that inspectors in the Hunter and Central Coast areas this week will not allow the lives of workers to be jeopardised and will issue immediate fines if required.

“SafeWork NSW is committed to preventing psychological harm and promoting workplace mental health. It is important we continue to provide businesses and workers with tools, resources and support that enable workplaces to comply and take action to address psychosocial hazards at work,” Trent said.
