SafeWork NSW inspects alpine area to guarantee safety at snow resorts
SafeWork NSW has been conducting visits to all the snow resorts across the state this week, performing proactive inspections on operations to ensure workers and the million visitors who frequent the area each season are being safeguarded.
SafeWork said inspectors are revisiting their initial assessment from earlier this year to verify that safety standards are being adhered to and to grasp the safety implications of the snowfall as the season unfolds.
SafeWork NSW Commissioner Janet Schorer noted that ski resorts in NSW provide a distinctive, dynamic, and frequently risky environment, attracting more than a million visitors every season
“Those heading to Perisher, Thredbo, Selwyn or Charlotte Pass resorts can rest assured that SafeWork NSW continues to monitor and interact with all ski resort operators to ensure workers are properly trained and that safety standards are being met,” she said.
“Improving work health and safety compliance is a SafeWork NSW priority, with collaboration between the government, operators, their workers and the public key to realising this goal.”
