SafeWork issues hot weather safety warning
With high temperatures expected in South Australia over the next few days, SafeWork has alerted employers to the necessity of enforcing their hot weather policy or taking appropriate actions to safeguard workers from heat-related risks.
The forecast suggests several parts of the state will encounter heatwave temperatures during the weekend and extending into next week. As a result, SafeWork SA is calling on employers to revise workplace operations or to establish supplementary provisions as necessary.
SafeWork SA Executive Director Glenn Farrell said workplaces are responsible for ensuring the safety of their staff and contractors from excessive heat.
“One of the most critical things businesses and employers can do is to consider how they can re-arrange work activities, to best protect their workers,” he said.
