Safety warning issued after worker crushed by hay bale on Queensland property

WorkSafe Queensland reminds workers about the risks associated with loading or unloading hay bales from trucks or trailers after a worker sustained serious spinal injuries when struck by a hay bale last month.

The worker was standing near a truck when the hay bale fell on him.

WorkSafe is conducting an investigation to establish the cause of the incident.

The safety agency says workers can be at risk when loading and unloading hay bales.

The safety agency reminds PCBUs to complete a comprehensive risk management process and ensure safe systems of work are in place before starting any work with hay bales.
