Safety failures at Perth army base result in $100,000 fine

A construction company has been prosecuted by the federal safety regulator after a worker suffered serious injuries at a Perth army base.

During the incident on 7 June 2017, the worker was struck by a 200kg truss frame leading to a toe amputation.

Several workers were lifting a steel truss with a crane when the incident took place.

Comcare investigated the incident and filed charges against the company under the federal Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act).

The company was recently fined $100,000 after being found guilty at the Perth Magistrates Court.
