Safety blitz targets unsafe construction sites in the Illawarra region

SafeWork NSW inspectors are visiting construction sites in the Illawarra region to ensure workers are adhering to safety rules.

During the three-day safety blitz, inspectors will focus on ‘electrical safetyfalls from heightsmoving plantstructural safety and dust diseases.’

SafeWork NSW Regional Director Construction Services Laurence Richey said, “Serious injury or death are never an acceptable part of the job and SafeWork is committed to ensuring builders are doing everything in their power to make sure neither of those occur on their worksite.”

A similar blitz conducted in the region earlier this year unearthed a number of safety breaches including lack of fall protection and silica dry cutting.
