Safety alert issued after Queensland worker died in tractor rollover

WorkSafe Queensland has issued a safety alert after a worker was fatally injured in an incident involving a tractor late last year.

WorkSafe said the man was thrown off his tractor and became trapped underneath the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations revealed the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.

The risk of rollover increases when driving on uneven ground, steep slopes and contour banks, WorkSafe states in the alert.

The safety regulator advises tractor drivers to wear seat belts and to ensure attachments are fitted according to the guidelines issued by the manufacturers.
