Safety alert issued after NT worker suffers serious crush injuries

Northern territory’s occupational health and safety regulator, NT WorkSafe, issued a safety alert after a worker suffered serious crush injuries while attempting to unload a 2.7-tonne utility compactor.

NT WorkSafe said the alert highlights ‘the risk of serious crush injuries when unloading heavy machinery from tilt tray trucks when available safety equipment isn’t used.’

To prevent similar incidents from happening in future, the safety watchdog has outlined a number of safety measures workplaces should put in place.
