Safe Work Australia releases updated WHS information for electricians

OHS Daily News

Safe Work Australia recently released a new WHS profile focusing on electricians, aiming to highlight the common risks they face during their work activities.

The federal safety agency said this profile emphasises the increased risk of job hazards and body positioning hazards faced by electricians in comparison to workers in other occupations.

The profile highlights a key trend where 'body stressing' has consistently emerged as the most prevalent type of occupational injury or illness for electricians over the past 10 years, making up an average of 35.1% of all serious claims during this duration.

Moreover, the rate of serious claims related to 'electrocution or shock from electric current' among electricians is roughly 6 times higher than the average for all occupations.
