Queensland health and safety regulations now cover employees in the sex industry

OHS Daily News

After sex work was decriminalised in Queensland, all sex workers and sex work businesses will now fall under work health and safety legislation, according to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

The changes, in effect from 2nd August, ensure that sex work businesses and those working within the sex industry are subject to the same workplace health and safety laws as all other businesses in Queensland.

WHSQ affirms that all workers, including sex workers, have the right to experience a safe and healthy work environment.

The Sex work - Work health and safety guidance 2024 was created with input from the industry to clarify the duties, obligations, and rights of workers under Queensland's laws.
