Queensland court fines business owner for intimidating work safety inspector
A Queensland court has ordered a business owner to pay a fine of $5,000 for intimidating a workplace safety inspector.
The safety inspector was attending a demolition site on 29 September 2020 when the business owner confronted him.
The court heard that the defendant turned aggressive and repeatedly shouted at the inspector.
He was shown a WorkSafe ID card by the inspector but he continued swearing at him.
Acting Magistrate Patrick Murphy condemned the defendant’s behaviour, saying the inspector was only doing his work.
The Pine Rivers Magistrates Court also ordered the accused to pay costs of approximately $1,100.
