Queensland businesses warned against operating without workers' compensation insurance

WorkCover Queensland reminds businesses that it is an offence to operate without workers' compensation insurance.

During the month of October, WorkCover Queensland conducted site visits at more than 200 businesses across southeast Queensland and Cairns. Inspectors found that 31 per cent of the businesses had no workers' compensation insurance.

WorkCover Queensland said, "While the majority of Queensland employers do take out the right level of cover, any business that employs even one worker in Queensland without adequate insurance is breaking the law."

WorkCover Queensland stated that businesses that do not hold workers' compensation insurance for their employees put their health and safety at risk.
