Pilot injured when helicopter hits powerlines while mustering cattle

A pilot has been flown to hospital after his helicopter struck powerlines while mustering cattle in the Western Downs region Thursday morning.

The aircraft crashed to the ground, and the pilot, a man, aged in his 20s, was able to get himself out of the wreckage.  He suffered serious injuries to his chest.

Queensland ambulance paramedics and Queensland Fire & Emergency Service (QFES) personnel treated the injured pilot at the scene.

He was later airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew.
