NT WorkSafe is seeking nominations from individuals for consideration to become members of the inaugural Electrical Safety Board.

About the Electrical Safety Board

Established under the Electrical Safety Act 2022, effective as of 1 July 2024, the Electrical Safety Board carries several key responsibilities. Detailed electrical safety obligations sit at the core of its mandate, guiding decisions that affect workplaces and communities across the Northern Territory.

Board duties include:

• Providing recommendations to the relevant Minister on electrical safety matters
• Assessing the effectiveness of existing electrical safety laws
• Advocating for stronger safety compliance in workplaces and communities
• Overseeing compliance measures tied to electrical licensing and licence conditions

Discipline Committee Formation

Board members will establish a Discipline Committee, a dedicated committee responsible for enforcing disciplinary measures against electrical licence holders under Part 6 of the Act. This structure ensures accountability remains central to how licensing breaches get addressed, reinforcing public confidence in regulatory oversight.
