NT WorkSafe warns about electrical safety due to potential component failure in older model metre boxes

Northern Territory workplace safety regulator has released a safety alert for both electrical workers and residents, reminding them to be careful when dealing with metre boxes that have older style metres.

NT WorkSafe says service staff have discovered several service fuse holders that have been damaged by heat in metre boxes of homes in the Territory.

Damage to the service fuse holders results in exposed live parts, posing an electrical safety risk to those entering the metre box, according to the safety watchdog.
