NSW workers encouraged to promote a culture of asking R U OK? on daily basis

SafeWork NSW is encouraging workers to contribute to fostering a culture of R U OK? on a daily basis, rather than just one day a year, in order to promote mentally safe and healthy work environments.

The NSW workplace safety regulator believes that addressing psychosocial hazards like heavy workloads, trauma exposure, bullying, and harassment leads to a more productive, happier, and healthier work environment that benefits all.

Under the provisions of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, businesses are legally required to address and manage hazards and risks that could affect the physical and mental health and safety of their workers in the workplace.

According to the Head of SafeWork NSW Trent Curtin, prioritising workplace psychological health and safety should not be seen as a one-time task or simply a legal requirement, but as a moral responsibility.
