The NSW Resources Regulator has released a safety warning following a close call between a front-end loader and a light vehicle at an open-cut coal mine.

According to the regulator, a front-end loader was ascending a ramp towards an intersection at approximately 10 km/h.

The operator failed to see a light vehicle with two passengers waiting to make a right turn at the intersection, which compelled the light vehicle operator to take evasive measures to avoid a collision with the loader.

After conducting an investigation, the regulator has provided multiple suggestions for mine operators to mitigate negative vehicle interactions.
