NSW mine safety regulator conducts successful road safety campaign

The NSW Resources Regulator has recently conducted an awareness campaign on road safety following reports of a high number of incidents involving mobile plant and machinery on mine roads over the past year.

The regulator said it ‘engaged with more than 9,500 mine workers and supervisors” during the 10 day campaign.

“Forty-five inspectors delivered 191 presentations at 21 open cut surface coal mines and 25 surface extractives mines and large quarries across the state,” the regulator said.

The purpose of the targeted campaign was to inform mine workers that they have a role to play in keeping the workplace safe and remind employers to develop workplace safety procedures.
