NSW intensifies measures to protect workers from dust-related diseases

The New South Wales Government has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding workers against dust-related diseases by launching a new state-of-the-art Lung Health Mobile Clinic, which is funded at $2.5 million and will offer lung health assessments to thousands of residents throughout the state.

Annually, the lung bus program delivers free lung screening assessments to more than 5,000 workers in regional New South Wales.

Lung health assessments can be crucial for saving lives, as they facilitate the early identification and management of dust-related diseases such as asbestosis, silicosis, and mesothelioma.

The state Government states that this constitutes the latest effort to shield workers from diseases associated with dust, including those caused by silica and asbestos.
