NSW holds inaugural SafeWork event on combatting sexual harassment
The NSW Government, in collaboration with the state's workplace health and safety watchdog, has conducted the inaugural SafeWork NSW event focused on the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace.
The State Government says safeguarding employees from sexual harassment at work is a key regulatory focus for SafeWork NSW.
“The event, ‘Awareness to Action: Preventing workplace sexual harassment’ held on Thursday in Sydney brought together a diverse group of workers, unions, business leaders and experts to encourage practical action from NSW employers,” the NSW Government said.
Among the primary issues discussed at the event were strategies for implementing effective work design to mitigate sexual harassment in industries predominantly occupied by men, the safety of young and newly hired workers, and the crucial role of workplace culture, leadership, and governance in eradicating sexual harassment.
