The NSW Government has introduced a new mental health and wellbeing initiative for first responders, now acknowledging the contributions of forestry workers, national park staff, and road and transport personnel who risk their lives to ensure community safety.

This includes emergency services personnel such as Ambulance NSW, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police, the NSW State Emergency Service, and the NSW Rural Fire Service.

In New South Wales, first responders serve a crucial role in ensuring public safety and managing a wide array of emergencies, such as automobile collisions, wildfires, and flood events.

The State Government says the newly established strategy outlines fifteen key actions that agencies are executing to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of these workers, enabling them to more effectively navigate the psychological challenges inherent in their essential roles.
