Notices issued in Adelaide playgrounds’ safety blitz

SafeWork South Australia has recently published the results of last year’s safety blitz on nature playgrounds in Adelaide.

The results reveal that the safety regulator issued more than 60 improvement and prohibition notices following the campaign.

SafeWork SA said “Inadequate maintenance of installed play equipment (37), lack of hazard identification (9), inadequate loose fill (8) and lack of annual inspections (7) were the areas of concern that attracted the highest numbers of improvement notices.”

The safety watchdog conducted the compliance blitz following reports of serious playground-related injuries.
