NHVR’s SA campaign focuses on driver fatigue


The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has commenced a comprehensive operation spanning from the Western Australia border to Port Augusta in South Australia.

NHVR Chief Operations Officer Paul Salvati states that the main focus of this operation, which will run for a week, is to prevent fatigue-related violations among heavy vehicle drivers.

“The NHVR’s Safety and Compliance Officers will have an increased presence at the WA and SA border, ensuring drivers are maintaining accurate work diaries, which are a critical tool in complying with work and rest requirements,” Mr Salvati said.

Mr. Salvati highlighted the significance of the operation, considering the unfortunate loss of 35 lives in incidents involving heavy vehicles throughout Australia so far this year, with nine of them occurring in SA and WA.
