NHVR urges truckies to plan their journeys and prioritise safety during the Easter season

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has recently issued a reminder to heavy vehicle drivers and operators to focus on safety and be cautious while driving on the roads.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto OAM said “We know the Easter long weekend historically sees a surge in travel as holidaymakers hit the road to spend time with family and friends, making it essential for all drivers to take caution and be patient on congested roadways.”

“The NHVR is urging heavy vehicle drivers to conduct thorough pre-departure inspections of their vehicle, ensure proper load securement, and importantly, practice fatigue management by following work and rest requirements.”

Mr Petroccitto said it is essential for all people using the road to give utmost importance to rest, ensure frequent meal breaks, and above all, prioritise their well-being while travelling.
