NHVR issues warning about dangers of fatigue during Easter holiday

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is urging the entire heavy vehicle sector to prioritise fatigue management and ensure safe driving practices as the 2025 Easter holidays approach.

Operation Omega II will involve collaboration between the NHVR and law enforcement agencies nationwide to raise awareness among heavy vehicle operators regarding the dangers associated with driving while fatigued or impaired.

According to Paul Salvati, NHVR's Chief Operating Officer, Safety and Compliance Officers in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania will prioritise education and compliance efforts to promote safer road conditions during the Easter period.

“This operation, which also ran during last year’s Christmas period, will see the NHVR continue our partnership with police to prevent fatigue-related incidents from occurring,” Mr Salvati said.

“From conducting roadside checks and inspecting logbooks, to monitoring driving behaviours and providing driver education, we’ll be prioritising the safety of all road users.”
